Joy, On Purpose: Why the World Needs a Little More Mischief

A Life Built With Intention

If I wanted a life that felt lighter, brighter, a little mischievous around the edges, I couldn’t wait for “someday” to arrive on its own.  I’ve always known joy was my responsibility... it was mine to hold.

The real shift came when I realized this:

Our someday dreams don’t build themselves. Today is where we shape them. Today is where we build them.

So I stopped treating joy and my someday dreams as things that would happen in time... and started building them with intention.

Why Joy Matters

Joy isn’t something that simply happens to us. We cultivate it from within. It’s something we practice. It’s something worth fighting for. It isn’t fragile… it’s a muscle.

And choosing joy, even in tiny ways, can change everything.

We don’t lack desire for the lives we dream of living... we lack alignment. The connection between what we dream and the action required to make it real.

We have to give our dreams the daily attention they deserve, and decide:

Today we chase our dreams.
Today we create something more.
Today we build something that reflects the way we want the world to be.

Someday is our delay.
Today is our day, the only one we can act in.

Sometimes we just need a reminder, and the courage to begin.

The Moments That Bring Us Back

Joy often reveals itself in the quiet details... familiar moments that remind us we’re here, alive, and capable of choosing how we meet each day.

The warmth of a mug between your hands.
The gentle patter of rain on the roof.
The rhythmic waves on the shoreline.
The scent of shampoo as you lather your hair.
The quiet satisfaction of a small win… like crossing off a task you’ve been avoiding for far too long.

These aren’t indulgences, they’re our anchors... steadying us, softening us, guiding us back to ourselves.

How Humor Guides Us

Humor often has a mind of its own.  It has a way of finding us when we need it most... a clever comeback, an unexpected pun, a joke that nearly crosses the line and somehow lands with the right person.

These aren’t accidents.
They’re bright spots in a cloudy day.

They remind us to breathe.
They help us take life a little less seriously.

Humor steadies us in its own way.
It lightens the heaviness.
It opens people up.
It opens us.

And every now and then, even if a joke makes just one person smile, it’s enough. Sometimes that person needs it more than we know.

Humor brings us back to joy... it’s mischief with a purpose.

What WishBug Stands For

We created WishBug because we needed more joy than our environments were offering. We wanted a life where cleverness wasn’t an afterthought, where humor wasn’t tucked away, and where creativity had room to breathe.

We wanted a world that felt lighter.
Brighter.
A little mischievous around the edges.

And when we couldn’t find that world around us, we did what all dreamers eventually learn to do... we built it.

WishBug is our intentional space for joy… shaped by the belief that humor, creativity, and delight are worth prioritizing, even on the days that feel heavy.

It’s for the people who carry cleverness like a secret superpower. For the ones who see the world differently. For the ones who love to laugh — and the ones trying to remember how.

WishBug stands for:

  • Cleverness with purpose
  • Humor with intention
  • Joy you can wear
  • Delight you can share
  • A spark you can carry into your own world

We’re not here to sell shirts or mugs or tote bags.
We’re here to offer reminders, touchpoints of lightness you can reach for when the world asks you to carry too much.

This is the world we’re creating together.

A world where joy isn’t a luxury or an accident or something saved for “someday.”
It’s something we choose, build, and share… on purpose.

Joy, On Purpose

Joy isn’t something we find.
It’s something we build... piece by piece, day by day.

Choose yours:

  • Pick one thing each day that sparks a little joy.
  • Let yourself feel what you feel, then let it move.
  • Add something that lifts you, even slightly.
  • Keep reminders of joy around you, even the silly ones.
  • Share your humor with the people who get it (and sometimes with people who don’t... hidden smiles count too).

Joy grows when we practice it.
And humor grows when we share it.

Choosing joy doesn’t ignore reality, it changes how we move through it.

So wear the things that make you smile.
Create moments that feel like sunlight.
Share mischief when the day feels too serious.

Joy is a choice.
And we’re choosing it… on purpose.
